Charcuterie for two makes an awesome and cozy at-home date night! This delicious wine and cheese date night charcuterie board is perfect for sharing with your cutie.
My love for food boards has struck again! This time, I’m sharing ideas for creating a cozy wine and cheese date night at home.
With Valentine’s Day coming up, you might be looking for a fun date night idea. This wine and cheese charcuterie for two is a great one!
No need to go anywhere, this cute charcuterie board is easy to set up at home. You can also scale it to the size you want…if it’s for dinner, do a bit larger, or if it’s a lead up to the main course, go a little smaller.
We love doing wine and cheese nights because, well, wine and cheese, duh! Delicious. But also, it’s a cute way to sit back, watch a movie (or binge that favorite TV show) together, and have some tasty food.
This board in particular is great for Valentine’s Day or date night, as the red and purple colors of the berries really compliment the theme. And if you feel like getting all fancy, you can cut hearts out of pepperoni!
How To Do Charcuterie for Two
What Ingredients Do You Need?
For this wine and cheese date night at home, you will need the following ingredients:
- 2-3 types of cheese, small wedges (I went with a sharp cheddar, a small wedge of my favorite blue cheese, and a wedge of Fromager d’Affinois, which is like a super creamy brie)
- 2 types of charcuterie meat (I went with pepperoni, and genoa salami)
- assorted red and purple berries (strawberries, raspberries, blackberries are what we had, about 1 cup of each)
- some crunch- any kind of nuts you enjoy (I used a small handful of pecans)
- crackers (I used water crackers) and lightly toasted baguette rounds
- 1 or 2 cheese accompaniments- honey and jam is what we used to match the date night theme (sweet) and they went well with the cheeses we chose
- garnish- you can make pepperoni hearts if you would like and place them throughout the board! This only took me a minute and really made the board feel date night-ish. Then I also added a couple pieces of chocolate to the board to finish it off with something sweet
- wine to accompany the charcuterie board. We went with a rose prosecco, because the sparkling wine paired beautifully with all the cheeses and the fresh fruit. Also, it’s pink, so another nod to the date night theme!
Ingredient Notes:
In the printable “recipe” below I’ll write the ingredients as I used them. But as with every board, you can feel free to substitute or adjust to your tastes.
The cheeses I used are some of our favorites, (especially the Fromager d’Affinois- SO good!), but if you can’t find them or prefer others, then adjust as needed. I suggest a small wedge of each cheese, and you can scale up or down depending on whether this board is your whole dinner or not.
You can always use extra or leftover cheese for something else!
With the meats, again 1-2 choices is great for variety. Choose something you like. I adore pepperoni with the cheddar, and my husband likes the salami so it was a win win for both of us.
Same deal with the berries- I chose these ones because we like them, but also because the colors perfectly suit the date night / Valentine’s theme. Blueberries are another good choice!
For the bread rounds, I just cut a baguette into thin slices, brushed with a bit of olive oil, and lightly toasted.
What Equipment Do You Need for this Charcuterie for Two?
You’ll need:
- Charcuterie board, cutting board, or platter
- Knife for chopping and cutting ingredients
- Wine or Champagne glasses
- Small bowls to hold the cheese accompaniments
- Toaster or oven for toasting bread rounds
- Cheese knives
I used a smaller charcuterie board than I usually do this time, since it’s for two. A large plate or small platter would also work well.
Most of the set up for this date night charcuterie board is cutting ingredients and then arranging.
To arrange this board I did the following:
- Place your cheeses in opposite corners of the board. I placed my wedges of Fromage d’Affinois and the blue cheese in opposite corners. Then two small piles of the sharp cheddar, that I had sliced, in the other two corners.
- Then place your charcuterie meats. I folded my salami and pepperoni into quarters, then placed them fold side up in a sort of forked river pattern in the middle of the board.
- Place your accompaniments. I placed the larger bowl, which had jam in it, in the center of the pepperoni river fork. Basically the dead center of the board. Then the honey went next to the cheese it was meant to go with, the blue cheese.
- Next, start placing your berries. Place your cut strawberries cut side up into small piles on opposite sides of the board. Fill in some of the large spaces between cheeses with small handfuls of the other berries.
- Start filling in the remaining spaces with crackers and bread rounds. Put small piles of each into the larger spaces that still need filling. You can always keep extra on the side if you can’t fit them all!
- Add some pecans (or other nuts) to fill the smaller spaces.
- If you have some spaces left, add more crackers, bread, or berries to fill it.
- Place your pepperoni hearts on top of the cheeses or add your other garnishes.
- Add the chocolate in an empty space, add your cheese knives and mini spoons, and pour some wine on the side!
I think this date night charcuterie board was honestly my favorite food board I’ve made so far! I loved how the color scheme came out, plus is was super delicious and went really well with the wine.
It was a cozy night to sit back, enjoy this good food with the husband, and watch some TV.
Will you make this charcuterie for two for your next date night? Be sure to share if you do, I’d love to see or hear about it!
xoxo
Wine and Cheese Charcuterie for Two
Ingredients
- 1/2 of a standard baguette, sliced
- olive oil
2-3 types of cheese, small wedges
- 2-4 oz. sharp cheddar, sliced
- 2-4 oz. blue cheese
- 2-4 oz. Fromager d'Affinois
2 types of charcuterie meat
- 2-4 oz. pepperoni, sliced
- 2-4 oz. salami, sliced
1 or 2 cheese accompaniments
- 1/4 cup jam blackberry, strawberry, raspberry jam work well
- 2 tbsp honey
other additions
- 1 cup each assorted red and purple berries strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries
- 1 sleeve water crackers or crackers of choice
- 1 small handful of nuts pecans, walnuts, peanuts, almonds all work well
garnish
- 3 pepperoni cut into hearts
- 2 chocolate squares
Wine
- 1 bottle rose prosecco or other wine that compliments your cheeses!
Instructions
- Slice your baguette into thin slices. Brush with olive oil and toast lightly. Let cool.
- Assemble your board. Place the cheeses first, in opposite corners of the board. Create a line of charcuterie meats in the middle of the board.
- Add your jam and honey in little bowls. I like to place the jam in the middle of the board, and the honey next to the blue cheese, which it goes with really well.
- Cut your strawberries in half and place small handfuls on opposite sides of the board. Fill in some of the larger gaps with the other berries in small handfuls.
- Add the crackers and bread rounds to fill in remaining large gaps. Use the nuts as filler to fill small empty areas of the board.
- Add your pepperoni hearts on top of cheeses, and place the chocolate squares in any empty space on the board. Pour your wine to accompany and enjoy!
