It’s Thanksgiving season! I think that’s a season isn’t it? Well, regardless, it’s almost time for the big meal and that means….leftovers! And this Thanksgiving leftover turkey cranberry sandwich will help you eat up some of those extra delicious leftovers.

I feel like turkey and cranberry sauce are always left over after the Thanksgiving meal. Which is why this sandwich is so good for using up leftovers in a new way!

This sandwich has layers of bread, turkey, and cranberry sauce! Plus, I added sharp cheddar cheese, to give it a little twist, and I feel like cheddar is something many people might have on hand for the holidays.

How to Make A Leftover Turkey Cranberry Sandwich

What Ingredients Do You Need?

To make one sandwich, you will need:

  • 2 slices of hearty bread
  • Butter for each slice (about ½-1 tbsp depending on how big your bread slices are)
  • 1 ½ oz. sliced sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ – 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 4 oz. leftover turkey
  • About 3 tbsp cranberry sauce

I like a French country loaf, or sourdough boule, but you can really use any hearty bread you have!

The sharp cheddar cheese adds a nice tang and creaminess to the sandwich, but honestly you can try other cheeses if you have those on hand. A sharp cheese, or a nice brie, or even some cream cheese would be good!

Cook Time:5 mins
Total Time:15 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of hearty bread
  • Butter for each slice about ½-1 tbsp depending on how big your bread slices are
  • 1 ½ oz. sliced sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½-1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 4 oz. leftover turkey
  • About 3 tbsp cranberry sauce

Instructions

  • Butter one side of each slice of bread. On the opposite side of one slice, layer the sliced cheddar cheese to cover the bread. Toast it, cheese side up in the oven or toaster oven until the cheese has melted, a couple minutes. Meanwhile, lightly toast the other slice of bread without cheese.
  • Once both slices of bread are toasted and the cheese has melted, take them out. On the slice without the cheese, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise to cover the bread on the non-buttered side.
  • Pile the turkey on top of the mayonnaise, and then spread the cranberry sauce over the top of the turkey. Take the cheese-slice of bread and place it, cheese side down, on top of the cranberry sauce to complete the sandwich. Squish it down, cut it in half, and enjoy!
