My spring decor is pretty simple and easy. I tend to decorate the same areas of our apartment for each season, which helps keep it easy peasy when it comes to switching out decor.

In general, when it comes to my spring decor, I follow 6 strategies, rules, suggestions, ideas…whatever you want to call them. And today, I’d like to share them with you! So if you are looking to give your own home a spring refresh, keep on reading!

6 Fresh and easy spring decorating ideas for 2021

  1. My first strategy for spring decorating is to decide on a color scheme. I love to use the same color and shades throughout our apartment so it flows together. This year, I decided on shades of green, pink, terracotta, and brown, with accents of gold. I also used neutrals like white, off whites, and black to balance out the colors. In the photo above and below, you can see I have sprinkled these colors throughout our living room area.

I also continued the color scheme in our bedroom, as seen below in our bedding and the window sill decorations.

2. And speaking of the bedroom, that’s spring decorating idea #2! A super easy way to refresh your home for spring is to refresh your bedding!

This year, I gave our bed a total overhaul because our bedding really needed to be replaced. I chose a new blanket, sheets, and coverlet, keeping my spring color scheme in mind.

Of course you don’t have to replace everything or anything if you don’t want to! We only did because our bedding sorely needed it. But you can definitely shop your own home for some spring bedding- just find a lighter blanket or change out your sheets for a pair you don’t often use, or switch up that heavy duvet for a lighter quilt…you get the idea!

I shopped our home, in fact, for our pillows on the bed, seen below. We had a few extra throw pillows not in use, and I discovered this beautiful shade of green pillow cover that matched the rest of my decor perfectly. Then I went with the more neutral, but still spring-y, black and white floral pillow covers that I found under our bed. Perfect!

I love how it all came together!

3. Moving right into easy idea #3, we have…more textiles! A super easy, and one of my absolute favorite, ways to decorate for every season is to switch out the couch throw pillows (or pillow covers!) and the kitchen hand towels. It’s so easy to do but makes any space feel instantly refreshed!

As you can see, I used more of the green, brown, and neutral colors for our couch pillows.

And in the kitchen, I hung up some pretty green kitchen towels with an herb print:

Voila! Easy peasy.

4. The fourth spring decorating idea I love is to add some decor to your bookshelves. It’s so fun to just add a few small groupings or a decorative item or two among your books.

Again, you can see I used the same green, pink, and brown shades, with a few gold accents. I try to space out each color so its evenly dispersed throughout the shelves. Here are a few close ups:

5. Okay, tip number 5 is another one that works for every season, and for spring I had a lot of fun with it…making vignettes! I think of vignettes as basically just little groups of decor items that can be tailored to the season or your preference. They can be small groups or larger, and are nice for filling any empty space you want filled!

In the picture above is our main vignette in our living room, on top of a desk that is used for storage. I love playing around with this area and am so happy with how it turned out for spring! My best advice for making a vignette is to make it interesting by using different heights and textures.

Here’s a look at our window sill again, which is basically a grouping of three smaller vignettes.

Also in our bedroom, is my desk. I love adding two smaller vignettes to that too!

You can see on the left side I placed a taller leafy green arrangement on top of some books, with a gold duck foot accent and brown owls. And on the right, I have a wedding picture, since we got married in the spring, and a bird figurine.

In the below photo, I have a small arrangement in our TV stand, with some greens, natural browns, and a fun little vintage print.

In all of these you can see I’ve kept with the initial spring color scheme!

6. We’ve made it to the last of our spring decorating ideas for 2021! This is one that I really got into this year- greenery! I used to do more flowers, which it totally cool too, but for me I was feeling the greenery this year. Either way you go is a great option.

Faux or real, greenery (or florals!) is a super fun and easy way to bring some spring into your home. Above, we saw the faux green arrangement on my desk. I love the pop of green it gives!

And on the TV stand, I added a green faux garland, as well as a real snake plant off to the side.

If you remember from some of the photos above, I also have a real hanging plant in our living room window, and a real tree plant next to our couch.

I added these cute little faux pearl plants in my living room vignette:

And finally, a pretty little wreath above our sink in the kitchen:

I loved adding all the greenery this year because it felt like I was bringing a little bit of that outside in, plus the green complemented my spring color scheme. Not to mention it was so easy to plop a few plants here and there!
